The Beat of Black Wings (2019-2022)

Orchid, a young witch in training, sets off with her familiar to go on a magical journey to save her family. Facing treacherous trails and dangerous quests, Orchid loses everything along the way; only to find it within herself to win back the ones she loves.

The Beat of Black Wings (2022)

An illustrative short film about a young witch Orchid, and her familiar, Veil. She learns the hard lesson of loss and sacrifice, and searches for a way to win back the ones she’s lost. This film was made as my thesis project, my final work at SVA.

When making The Beat of Black Wings, I wanted to bring to the forefront my illustration abilities. Even further, I wanted to challenge myself to create a rich, dense world that the viewer can get lost within. This being my first ever completed film, I knew I wanted it to be something that everyone can relate to on an emotional or spiritual level.
